I learnt this news from BBC. In order to get more information i logged on to Indian news channels IBNLive.com, i was shocked to see MF Hussain as the main news and 63 people lives lost as another news item. Then checked with NDTV.com and realised they were celebrating Hockey goals.

BBC South Asia had this in the prime news and was the Top 10 read items on BBC Worldwide. I was surprised to see that this was not the most important news, so does our media feel. But like it is said, the media reflects peoples sentiments. And if this was indeed an indication! Where are we heading. Below are the clips

Which made me think in the context of the current media influence on our daily lives. ‘Who does our media vote for?’ I do not deny the right nor the work that is done by our media in the current world and more so in our free democracy which bring justice to many. But where do we draw the line, when journalism crosses the reporting line and enters the thin line into ‘Parallel governance’

India today is seeing a flood of information available to the reader and the viewer in which ever form he desires. In a bid to increase viewership and that’s all that seems to matter to them (evident from the article in NDTV.com) The vast majority is made to have a funneled view of the reality rather than the 36o degree view.

Media reflects the society is the view! and drawing a curb is denying justice is also my thought, but then its in the hands of the viewer who should not get carried away by these high click headlines!!!

Media seems to be deciding Indo-Pak tour! Well i do not want to get into the business of second guessing as to whether they should go or not! But then, i guess we have competent bodies working on these and a mere view expressed by the media can amount to defamation of these competent bodies.
