The Indo Pakistan situation is always volatile, with probably everything other than will in it! We have seen years of administration on both sides present their case and so is it with the armies of both the countries. Today BSF claimed that guns were fired from across the border and pakistan denied it.

Now can it be that there is a 3rd country doing this? Highly unlikely! This history of accusation and denial is what is irritating about the whole problem! Either one of the sides is lying and whoever it may be, the citizens of the country don’t deserve nonsense!

Its time people start talking about transnational associations and strictly keep them apolitical and move forward with it. This is a delicate issue cause it was never fought on Gandhian principles. But then the time is ripe and probably too late for us to look at it from the glasses of a pessimist! If East and West Germany can unite because of citizens movement, India – Pakistan can sure be great neighbors!

In what can be the defining moment for the peace and security in the Indian Sub Continent. India and China are having their talks and negotiations to resolve the Arunachal Pradesh issue tomorrow. We have fought the 61 war for this very reason, with 2 versions of the truth ofcourse!

For years its been the disputed land with the citizens of both countries made to fortify the argument of their governments! or even vice versa!

But considering the news arms race and weapons build up in this region of the world, especially after the rise of China as a financial super power after the global credit crunch. The situation between the world’s most watched poster boy country and China remains as delicate as ever. With the west always taking a non-aligned stand.

If we decide to resolve this putting behind and even settling for what we don’t agree to, we will be guaranteeing peace for atleast many more years to come! After all what we have to loose is just land but what we stand to gain is peace and credence!

Note: I have done little research on the view of the local people and also the defense spending of these countries in the region, hopefully will do and present shortly.

After seeing Charlie Wilson’s war movie, i guess we can easily assume that the decision to supply weapons sometimes far out weighs the decision to not to!

But leaving behind a mess as in most cases! why not think of smart weapons that expire at the end of lets say x days or so. So that you can be absolutely sure that the weapons will not be used out of purpose!

That can also help the weapon suppliers to come clear! Can avoid weaponisation mistake of the Talibans or for that matter even Iraq as the case was.

From any angle you look at it, India’s failure to engage Srilanka in the current war will have serious repercussions for India.

Military

By now it has become very evident that the Srilankan army was able to step up offensive because of the weapons support provided by China. With a country that already engulfs all our north and eastern borders. We could not have asked for a more compromised situation in the southern waters of India. Also it is now known that China is likely to help Srilanka establish sea ports and airports. That brings in Infrastructure support! Which gives them a strong location base in case there arises a need for one.

Humanitarian

India did have a failed IPKF mission! and yes it did backfire for India to the sense that we lost one of India’s most promising PM’s Shri Rajiv Gandhi which surely left us in a Catch 22 situation. But the silent spectatorship of probably one of largest civilian casuality could have been easily avoided had India made serious efforts. Yes! it is probably difficult or impossible to negotiate with armed men especially when they are killing their own people. But then an India administered ceasefire and rehabilitation program under the UN watchdog would have made more sense. This would have made India a serious power in the region in the Humanitarian map also bolstering our commitment and seriousness to engage Pakistan in a logical discussion.

Now here we are just 48 hours before election day! In many ways the D-Day that will determine the next 5 years of the fate of our country!

In many ways this election is important because the winning coalition would have to handle a couple of issue immediately:

Handle the cascading effect of the global credit crunch on the Indian economy

Handle the volatile Pakistan situation

Handle the Srilankan crisis

Decide on the NPT that the Obama administration is likely to force India to sign

Kickstart manufacturing and agricultural output

Like they say in the US, Tamilnadu ha been the booster state for many years, meaning the we always give a clear mandate to one of the major dravidian parties! This helps them align with greater bargaining ability at the center and henceforth the benefits our state reaps. But this time around it seems we might just end up giving a hung mandate! Not sure how much of a good that’s going to do to us!

You might have already read this is various other sources but then for the novices like me! here is it as a baby would learn it!

Chennai which has three parliamentary constituencies this time around has a much larger coverage area compared to last elections and also has had some reshuffling of zones since the last elections.

The three constituencies are:

North Chennai

South Chennai

Central Chennai

For those familiar with internet would also know what SEO stands for: Search Engine Optimization. Basically packaging your content most likely non-unique to sound like unique! Using all kinds of jargon technologies!
The trend as probably has always been and even more observed in the current elections that leaders tend to use words that are the buzz!

Anti-Corruption!, Environment! etc… etc… well probably that’s what wins elections! But i am not sure even our leaders have actual plans to tackle any of these problems or any clue how it actually works.

I was talking to a prospective legislator and realized that this man does not even know the difference between external security threat and internal security threat! and his manifesto had the Security and all Blah! Blah! in bold…

But with a society where we do not know the difference between and MP and MLA and think that MLA reports to MP what more can you expect from these leaders?!!!

Sometimes, as rightly said a society deserves the leaders it gets!
