prerequisite for scribes
not sure if many of you are aware of this, but if you want to scribe for a blind person in a bank exam in India, then you should have scored< 60% or lesser than the candidate (whichever is lower) (less) and be good in arithmetic.
not that arithmetic is any representative of the scores, but in most cases logic would tell you that if a guy is good in arithmetic he/she should have scored more than 60 in 10th and 12th exams.
though there is some logic to the rule, that you don’t want the scribe to end up answering, but this could in some way surely mount to prejudice towards blind people if you look at it. already the exam paper is not in braille, so to calculate a sum as i had the experience recently while scribing, the kid has to short memorize a 10×3 dimension table, just to answer that question. and it is a slip test, then 10 such accounting questions makes the process even more difficult.
maybe there could be video/ audio surveillance, though this could be very difficult to implement, they deserve better. for this simple reason laws have to be amended.
maybe banks themselves can send their employees to scribe.
