YSR Reddy’s Search & US DoD
The CM (Y Samuel Rajashekhar Reddy) of Andra Pradesh is missing! which is really a sad news. But in all the news converage i couldn’t help but notice the involvement of US Department of Defence.
Any help at a time of trouble is more than just welcome and even here. But the point of having high resolution imagery data being available with another country is one and we asking them to give it to us is another. Does that mean US has a more reliable data of our country compared to our own ISRO’s ?
Back in the Anna University days, when i was a student rarely loitering around the IRS buildings, the news was that the Oceansat IRS satellite released in 1999 by India had a far greater resolution than the one India was paying US to get data.
But there are 2 questions here:
- We have better resolution satellites. Why not use them?
- Does the US government have spy satellites above us? (Not to create a storm!) and sadly that are more acurate than ISRO?

When the leader of PLO Mr. Arafat was in a
plane crash, the U.S. satellite could locate him.
It is not the question whether the Indian satellite
is good enough to do the job, but the current
emergency is to locate the CM, and we need to
get whatever help we can get to solve the problem.
Let us all pray to God to locate him and the party
at the earliest.
Hello Mr Mathew,
What i was trying to point out was the availability of far more accurate data that could have defence implications with other countries other than our own. This is particularly a bad situation considering the govt. organizations like ISRO, DRDO and so on.
But it is possible that for tactical reasons the help could have been taken but even then look at the data we are talking about!
