A tribute to the great Indian Hero on his death anniversary. My knowledge of this man was through the movie Rang De Basanti(Sad Bollywood taught me history and not by school curriculum ). As history tells us, he went on a 21 year mission to avenge the death of 1300 people of the Jaliawala massacre.  Finally killing Michael O’Dwyer the Governor under whose concurrence the massacre was carried out.

Ironically, reading the various newspapers and websites, only BBC covered it in the photo section and none of the mainstream Indian media covered any news about him! Only the Haryana Assembly paid tributes.

In fact it should be added in our NCERT books as a follow up in the Jaliawala Massacre lesson.

I was teaching my cousin hindi yesterday and infact Udham Singh is mentioned in class 8 books. Great!
