Is education a measure of your Political worth!?

There is a change in the Indian political journey! There are more university educated citizens entering Indian politics. The headlines hitting the media wires is always about some ex-IIT’ian or IIM entering the poll fray. It is great to see such great brains entering the system with a social cause.

But however, the broader perception that educated people are more clean and are more equipped to handle what it takes to run the society is probably a myth as Indian history can illustrate to us with examples of the Great Akbar who was never formally educated, but back to current relevance. Scams in the corporate world like the ones in Satyam are clear evidence of the point that education is never the basis of clean government or otherwise.

What is important is that we understand the attributes of a leader who can best fit our current Democratic system. Like the lokparitran episode, we cannot afford to have a leader on whom the people believed in and gave 10% of votes and leaves the country in a weeks time. My view is not to generalize the University graduates entering politics, but the notion in the public that education would make a person capable of public office!

What is to be seen is the track record of the person and also his credibility! Which takes years to establish, cause it is the life of a billion people we are talking about!
