Slumdog win a Marketing Gimmick?
Did Slumdog millionaire win because Oscar viewership was coming down in recent years?! But now they have guaranteed a billion viewers every year from next one!! Just a thought during a discussion!
That’s not India folks. Its like taking a movie on some serial killer in america in a way to portray that’s how america is!???? Absurd isn’t it! Its the same case here… But then if so is the happening in India! So does it deserve to be told
In any case, i think if the movie was directed by anyone bought up in India, the result could have been truly oscar deserving! No offense to the great work Danny Boyle has done, just that the movie could have been more like a movie rather than be so dramatic.
Music was good, but sure enough ask any person who has listened to AR Rahman and they would tell you this was not his best! So begs the question why are better work not reaching the Oscars, need to relook the reco’s!!!!
But what i feel has and probably will be the greatest contribution of this movie is the way millions of Indians who commute in trains everyday will start looking at children and kids on trains. All credits to Danny Boyle.
But what can i say! But why not! ITS MY BLOG

An interesting theory, but such an overwhelming win would have been difficult to engineer. This movie was a phenomenon. I’d also like to point out that moviegoers in the U.S. often see their nation depicted in violent gangster films. The whole “Western” genre is violent, but it is just a way of looking at issues. I blog about Royal Enfield motorcycles, so I have been exposed to a lot of blogs out of India. They’re all very good and way ahead of me in IT. Here’s a link to a blog post I did about India and Royal Enfield.

Hello David… i did read your blog and find it very useful and found some Madras bulls buddies on the following list. Hardcore classical biking geek is what i could infer!
You are right when you say SD was a phenomenon but then the awards should be given for talent excellence is it not?
maybe categories like ‘Best Child actor’ , ‘best narration style’ would have made more sense.
In that aspect itself, it is very hard to believe that the movie got so many awards.
Except for the music (which should and is judged by the impact it creates on the listeners, and in this case i believe it did!) all the other categories were far from the excellence that you would expect from an oscar movie.
The concept was indeed great, but then look at the concepts that we are also looking at ‘Benjamin Button!’ Did it not deserve that?!
But i do understand, that at the end of the day art is about perception and in that sense it did win the oscars from the jury
