My sister got me a T-Shirt which says ‘Obama for President’ when she went to the US and i happily wear it . I wear this T-Shirt in chennai and generally evoke strong responses from people who notice it! But then none of it is condemning! I was thinking to myself if i were to wear a T-Shirt which would bear the photograph of CM Karunanidhi, would i invoke similar responses?

Not that i am comparing the two, for i know that it is probably Obama’s age that is karunanidhi’s political experience. When i mentioned my T-Shirt plan hypothtically to him, the thought of it was rejected by my friend! But what i wanted to look at is the strange sense of apathy and voluntary alienation that our metropolitan society has towards politics!

But here the ‘By’ is sure enough absent! and as a consequence the ‘Of’ no matter how illogical as they may seem become ‘for’

I am reminded of the movie Rand De Basanti, in which he says IAS banenge IPS banenge society ko badlenge! But what if we ain’t party to the concept of change!
